NIKON OR CANON? Even though we are a Canon sponsored school we also know Nikon, Olympus and Sony like the back of our hand.
MAC OR PC?
Our facility and digital lab is PC based. But our instructors are well versed in both platforms. Feel free to bring your laptop with you if you would prefer to work on the operating system of your choice. We're more than happy to work with you.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
For any trips or cruises you will be emailed a list of items to bring. For regular workshops, as far as camera gear goes, bring it all! It's better to have too much, than to be sad you left something behind. LIGHT Photographic Workshops is ideally located near areas that include wineries, ocean vistas, nature preserves, farms, mountains, open plains with wildflowers, sand dunes and so much more. All of these areas are within an hour drive of us. Extend your visit for a day or two, take the knowledge you learned with us and go photograph any or all of these picturesque locales.
DO YOU HAVE A REFERRAL PROGRAM? YES! We appreciate that you are singing our praises. See more HERE.
I'M GETTING AN ERROR MESSAGE WHILE TRYING TO SIGN UP. WHAT'S GOING ON?
If you are signing up for a course and get an error message at the top of the page that says "There was a problem with your submission. Sorry, but this form is no longer accepting submissions." it means that the course has reached capacity and we are no longer accepting any students for this section. If you are interested taking another course just like it or would like to be put on a waiting list please email us. Info@LIGHTWorkshops.com
CAN I TAKE A WORKSHOP IF I ONLY HAVE A DIGITAL POINT & SHOOT CAMERA?
Our digital photography workshops are geared towards the DSLR crowd. That said we feel that if the workshop is a technique based workshop (learning how to shoot landscapes, etc) or a classroom based workshop (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) then you will most certainly get something out of the class and should consider joining us. We also have Canon DLSR cameras and lenses from the Rebel level to the Mark series you will be able to borrow during the course. It's a great way to try out new equipment before making that big purchase. Of course, if you have any concerns please feel free to contact us at the office 805-528-7385.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
Should YOU need to cancel:
If the workshop is otherwise filled, and we can fill your canceled seat, we will refund you the full amount you have paid towards the tuition, minus a 5% service charge. Greater than 60 days from the start date of the Workshop: full refund minus 5% fee.
30-45 days: 50% refund or 50% transfer to a different class
Fewer than 30 days: no refund

Should LIGHT need to cancel a class you will be refunded your full amount you paid towards your tuition.
WHAT TIME DOES CLASS START?
All classroom based workshops are from 9-5 with an hour lunch break. Some field shooting workshops may start early or go late, depending on the subject and each individual instructor. However, the first day will always start at 9. That day you will find out from the instructor if there will be early or late days. The last day will either end by 5 or a bit earlier, so you can get on the road home.
I'M A BEGINNER, CAN I STILL TAKE ATTEND YOUR WORKSHOPS?
Our workshop size is designed so that you get a fair amount of individual time, if and when necessary. All levels of photography are catered for, from beginner to pro. We think that you will come away with a great amount of knowledge no matter what your skill level.
MY SPOUSE IS COMING WITH ME TO THE AREA, WHAT IS THERE TO DO?
There are many things for your spouse to do while you are gone all day! Check out our LOCAL INTERESTS page with lots of information on what to see and do.
CAN I SELL THE PHOTOS I TOOK IN THE WORKSHOP?
This can be a sticky subject. Generally if you set-up the shot, composed and shot it yourself it is yours to use as you wish. However, if we are in a situation where the instructor has set-up the shot (subject matter) for you and you step in and take the shot, then the resulting images are only available for you to use for your portfolio. If there is a model involved you will need to get a model release for anything other than portfolio work and additional fees to the model should be discussed with them. We have portfolio use only releases available upon request.
DO YOU SELL GIFT CERTIFICATES?
Yes! We have them available for any amount. Call us at the office for more details. 805-528-7385.
WHAT ARE YOUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS?
